Overwatch Player Reaches Level 1000

Overwatch Player Reaches Level 1000

Overwatch may have been out for a while, but players are still striving to reach new heights, with one dedicated fan going as far as hitting the level 1000 milestone.

It’s finally been done; several months after the release of Blizzard’s first-person shooter Overwatch, one passionate fan has reached level 1000 in-game. A French player called Maxime, who goes by the username TaZzeRK, claims that he is the first to have achieved such a high rank in the team-based shooter.

On the 3rd of September, Maxime posted on his twitter with a screenshot of his player portrait as proof. We can finally get our first glimpse of what a level 1000 portrait looks like in Overwatchthe player icon decorated with a silver edging and sitting atop 3 stars. This incredible feat took the player just as much time as you’d expect, having spent an enormous amount of effort obtaining such a high rank.

“I’ve almost 1000 hours on Overwatch,” Maxime commented in an interview with Eurogamer. “I play like 16-17 hours per day – except sometimes.”

Reaching level 1000 means that TaZzeRK has had the chance to open exactly that many loot boxes, meaning that the player wants for nothing cosmetically. In case any new items catch his eye, he also has over 50,000 credits to spend in the Overwatch store.

Of course, even a milestone of this magnitude can be exceeded and level 1000 is not the highest that any player can rise. In fact, the final Overwatch player portrait unlocks at level 1890 and it is there that the levels might stop rising, though it’s entirely possible that they will simply continue with no further changes to the player portrait. It’s amazing to look back and see a player hitting level 100 as a huge accomplishment, shortly after the game’s release.

In the game’s competitive play gamemode, Maxime obtained a rank 75, showing that his time in-game has not been for nothing. Now as we move into the second season of competitive play, the hardcore fan is likely to perform even better thanks to his additional experience. For the record, TaZzeRK plays a lot of Roadhog, preferring to focus on having fun with friends than going for the end-of-game medals.

If you are yet to try out the latest first-person shooter game you’re in luck, as Blizzard has announced that this weekend, Overwatch will be free to play for all those on Xbox One and PS4 consoles. This will give players a chance to try out all the game’s cast of characters, as well as playing on every map released to date, all weekend long.

Overwatch is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
