While news regarding The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been steady if not a little slow, one of the major revelations yet to be shared by fans of the series is the one about the game’s release date. The game that has been crowned the Best of Gamescom 2016 and has been steadily accruing a number of accolades has been delayed once already, and Nintendo has since refused to provide The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with a new release date in the time since.
Apparently that might have changed today after gamers on Reddit noticed that the source code of Nintendo’s European websites has lines of data that appear to indicate the release date of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild amiibo figures. While the code’s March 4, 2017 release date could indicate when the figures will hit shelves, it could also imply much bigger things as well. Amiibo figures have been released before or after their respective game’s launch dates before, but the time window is usually pretty close to the release and the Nintendo NX is scheduled for a March 2017 release.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is set to be released on both the Wii U and Nintendo NX. If the amiibo figures are indicative of a rough time period in which the newest iteration of The Legend of Zelda franchise will appear, it appears Breath of the Wild could very well be the flagship launch day title for the NX.
As of this writing, Nintendo has yet to comment on the code or what it might mean, and both the Nintendo NX and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild still do not have specific release dates listed on their official pages. Recent gameplay demos, including the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild arrow video that showcased refined ranged combat, certainly look like they’re detailing a fairly polished product, however.
Still, it’s important to note that it’s not even official that the three Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild amiibo figures – Archer Link, Rider Link, and a Guardian – are releasing on the implied date within the source code. As for now, this information is just a rumor, but if even the amiibo figures end up being confirmed by Nintendo, there’s a strong chance gamers will be seeing the newest version of Link and Nintendo’s newest console in the very near future.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be available on Nintendo NX and Wii U, with no official release date scheduled as of yet.
