Battlefield 1 Burning Blimp Defies Laws of Nature

Battlefield 1 Burning Blimp Defies Laws of Nature

A rare Battlefield 1 glitch is captured on video, featuring a player observing the Airship after being shot down as the vehicle inexplicably becomes a tornado of fire.

Battlefield 1 has been a major talking point over the last few days, as its release has marked yet another successful instalment in a series that has become renowned for its ability to created credible and exciting multiplayer experiences. Battlefield 1‘s reviews have been very positive, and DICE and EA’s first-person shooter has managed to convert on the hype surrounding it as one of the most exciting new releases in the 2016 holiday season.

While in a surprising twist the single-player campaign for Battlefield 1 has been receiving its fair share of praise, the focus for many has still been on the game’s multiplayer experience. That gameplay mode that has been refined over many series entries and is now viewed as one of the best the first-person shooter genre has to offer, although Battlefield 1‘s multiplayer modes might also house one of the more entertaining glitches in recent memory – an Airship defying the laws of nature and physics and becoming a devastating tornado of fire for seemingly no reason.

The Airship glitch, which can be seen in the video above, is triggered once the Behemoth Vehicle is about to go down after being destroyed. As one would expect, the Airship catches fire and begins a slow descent towards the ground, landing somewhere on the map and slowly burning away. All of this behavior is intended, but what happens next isn’t, as the blimp begins to spin at ridiculous speeds and unleash lashes of flame all over the map, creating a spectacular display that has apparently happened more than once during Battlefield 1‘s multiplayer skirmishes.

Luckily for DICE and EA, the Airship glitch appears to be the kind that is more amusing than game-breaking, and players haven’t reported any negative effects coming as a result of the Airship’s transformation into a tornado of fire. It’s almost fitting that the blimp sometimes behaves this way in Battlefield 1, as the game has a cheeky sense of humor featured throughout it that includes one of the smallest handguns ever seen and the ability to play as a pigeon during the single player campaign.

There’s no word yet on whether DICE plans to patch the glitch out of Battlefield 1, but many of the gamers who have seen it actually hope that it will be left in as a kind of self-referential Easter Egg. The Airship glitch is also one of the few things in Battlefield 1‘s deep multiplayer offering that isn’t working as intended, and if this is the worst thing competitors must deal with while playing Battlefield 1 online, then the game is in an enviable position.

Battlefield 1 is available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
