Mass Effect: Andromeda Trailer Narrator Is Ryder's Dad

BioWare’s creative director Mac Walters discusses the most recent trailer for Mass Effect: Andromeda, confirming the voice of its narrator belongs to main character Ryder’s father.

Just recently, Mass Effect: Andromeda fans were given a short N7 Day teaser trailer that that hinted at more details and information to come on November 7 — that is, the date that is now synonymous with the celebration of BioWare’s science fiction franchise. Now, Mass Effect: Andromeda‘s creative director Mac Walters has begun answering questions about the most recent piece of footage for the game, with the BioWare developer revealing that the voice of the narrator in the trailer belongs to the protagonist Ryder‘s father.

As seen in the tweet below, Walters recently took to his Twitter account to answer fans’ questions about Mass Effect: Andromeda‘s latest trailer, confirming Ryder’s unnamed patriarchal figure did the narration. Unfortunately, though, the creative director didn’t divulge any additional bits of information regarding the attributes of the protagonist’s father.

Fans continued to press BioWare for more answers about Mass Effect: Andromeda‘s “Join the Andromeda Initiative” trailer, with some questioning whether or not the remark about 600 years being an allusion to the forthcoming game taking place six centuries after Mass Effect 3. As a matter of fact, some fans tweeted at the studio’s producer Michael Gamble to ask him whether or not this was the case, but he managed to keep them guessing by writing, “We said 600 years…but from when? That, we did not say :)”

Speaking of the Andromeda Initiative, lots of fans want to understand exactly what it involves other than a newsletter, but Gamble didn’t provide any specific details. However, it is currently known that Mass Effect: Andromeda fans can sign up for the initiative at the game’s website for “special training opportunities,” but it’s unclear what those are. Interestingly enough, Gamble has declared his own plans to sign up for the Andromeda Initiative because he “know[s] what’s in it for those who do…” with some speculating that it could relate to a forthcoming beta, but that’s unconfirmed at this point in time.

Mass Effect: Andromeda‘s creative director Mac Walters was also asked by fans whether or not one of the characters shown in the latest trailer was Ryder’s mother, hoping to discover if the game’s protagonist had any other genealogical ties in the footage. In a follow-up tweet, the BioWare developer said it wasn’t her, though.

Taking all of this into consideration, it seems as if Mass Effect: Andromeda fans are going to have to wait for more answers to their burning questions when N7 Day arrives next week. At the moment, the game has a tentative release date of March 21, 2017, but considering the slew of setbacks that have occurred in the past, it’s quite possible that the title could be postponed yet again. After all, during Electronic Arts’ latest financial briefing, CFO Blake Jorgensen has said that the publisher is willing to delay its launch if the title isn’t ready in time.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is due out before the end of March 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
