The Division Releases Survival Expansion Reveal Trailer

The Division Releases Survival Expansion Reveal Trailer

The developers at Ubisoft Massive officially release the reveal trailer for Tom Clancy’s The Division‘s forthcoming expansion with the simple name of “Survival.”

Yesterday, Tom Clancy’s The Division‘s community manager Hamish Bode hosted a livestream on Twitch to reveal that the third-person shooter’s next major content update called Survival made its way onto the game’s Public Test Server. Now, the developers at Ubisoft Massive have decided to give fans of the action-RPG an even closer look at the forthcoming expansion, by releasing the Survival DLC’s official reveal trailer.

As seen in the trailer for The Division below, fans are given a look at the severe conditions that they will face in the game’s expansion, including diseases, sub-zero temperatures, and more. Plus, as announced previously, the footage reiterates the addition of a 24-player mode in which players start out with low-level gear to help them battle the environment and other Agents to survive — hence the name of the DLC.

Following June’s Underground expansion for The Division, Survival is set to become the title’s second paid DLC package. Interestingly enough, though, the add-on was originally set to launch during the summer of 2016, but received a delay due to “lingering issues” within the game, as the team at Ubisoft Massive had to deal with a glut of bugs, glitches, and exploits.

For those unaware, The Division‘s Survival content is not the last expansion planned for the title, as the game’s developers also are working on Last Stand. Similarly to the next piece of DLC on the docket, Last Stand was previously scheduled to arrive this winter, but got pushed back well into the first quarter of 2017 in order for developers to get a handle on the base game’s problems.

The Division‘s PC fans who purchased the title’s season pass before November 3 ought to be able to play a beta version of Survival as of right now, and it will be available through the game’s testing server up until November 13. The expansion is set to release on PC and Xbox One alongside a 1.5 patch at some point in the near future. However, an official release date for Survival has not been announced.

The reason for The Division‘s Survival expansion coming to PC and Xbox One first is due to a timed-exclusivity contract between Microsoft and Ubisoft for marketing reasons. Fans on the PlayStation 4 should get the DLC shortly after, with the wait time for previous add-ons averaging out to be about a week or so. Nevertheless, should Survival launch in the same vein as Underground and experience release issues, PS4 players might be perfectly fine with waiting a bit longer until all of the kinks are worked out of the system.

Tom Clancy’s The Division is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
