Witcher 3 Producer Hypes Cyberpunk 2077

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt executive producer John Mamais talks Cyberpunk 2077 in the pre-show segment of the Golden Joystick Awards, hyping up the upcoming title with a strong statement.

Ever since The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt started taking the gaming world by storm, gamers everywhere have been eager to find out more regarding CD Projekt Red’s next game. Named Cyberpunk 2077, the developer has been remaining very quiet on the title, as it busily works on the project in the background. Now, the game’s executive producer has opened up about the game a little – if only to offer up a promise of the game’s quality.

Speaking during the pre-show segment of the Golden Joystick Awards, Cyberpunk 2077 executive producer John Mamais, who also served as executive producer for The Witcher 3, briefly waxed lyrical about the project. Questioned on what to expect from the title by the host of the pre-awards show segment, Mamais bigged up the game with a quote that may be a little blue for younger readers. Indeed, Mamais stated that Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be “really, really, really f**king badass.”

Unfortunately, that was all that Mamais was willing to share about the game, continuing the trend of CD Projekt Red staff keeping silent about the title aside from snippets of information and praise here and there, such as the previous announcement that the game is “more ambitious” than The Witcher 3. Interested viewers can check out the quote in the below video; simply skip to 18:48 to see the entire segment with Mamais and Geralt voice actor Doug Cockle, or go to 23:20 to see the quote directly.

The Golden Joystick Awards show itself proved to be a good night for CD Projekt Red in general, adding to such esteemed awards as the GDC Game of the Year. The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine picked up the awards for Best Storytelling and Best Visual Design, while Cockle himself also earned the nod for Best Gaming Performance. CD Projekt Red also won one of the most coveted awards of the entire show, as it was named Studio of the Year.

With Blood and Wine acting as the final major piece of DLC for The Witcher 3, the gaming community has been expecting more details on Cyberpunk 2077, but yet again these have been hard to come by. Some sleuthing behind the scenes has given some tidbits of information, such as suspicions that the game will include seamless multiplayer and a ‘living’ city. It’s also been suggested that Cyberpunk 2077 may include flying vehicles, due to job listings for the studio.

However, those waiting on an official statement on the game may have a while to wait just yet. Until then, fans of CD Projekt Red’s work will have to trust in the quality of the studio. With a development team larger than The Witcher 3‘s, there’s every hope that Cyberpunk 2077 will be a game to remember.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently in development for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
