Pokemon Sun and Moon Evolution Guide

Pokemon Sun and Moon Evolution Guide

Pokemon Sun and Moon are out now and we’ve put together a relatively spoiler-free list of all the new evolutions that are present in the newly-released games.

The highly-anticipated Pokemon Sun and Moon have finally released, bringing with them a whole load of new creatures to the long-running franchise. Of course, many of those Pokemon come with strange and powerful new evolutions – and we’ve got the ways to acquire them.

For those worried about ruining the game for themselves, it should be pointed out that we’re not listing some of the more spoiler-heavy evolutions due to the European release date of Pokemon Sun and Moon not being until November 23. Without further ado, here’s how to evolve your favorite new Pokemon:

Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio:

Sun and Moon‘s starter Pokemon have been revealed for a while now, and by this point, everyone has had time to pick their perfect partner ‘mon. The trio will all evolve at level 17 into Dartrix, Torracat, and Brionne respectively, before becoming Decidueye, Incineroar, and Primarina at level 34.

Rockruff -> Lycanroc

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Rockruff

New Rock-Type puppy Rockruff can evolve into one of two different forms of Lycanroc, depending on one’s version of the game. Pokemon Sun players can evolve the creature during the day to get the Midday form, while Pokemon Moon fans will get the Midnight form if they evolve Rockruff at night. Both forms will only evolve once the early-game Pokemon has reached level 25.

Yungoos -> Gumshoos

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Yungoos

This angry-looking Normal-Type will evolve into the President-Elect Donald Trump resembling Gumshoos at level 20.

Pikipek -> Trumbeak -> Toucannon

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Pikipek

The standard bird Pokemon Pikipek has a simple evolutionary line, turning into Trumbeak at level 14 before becoming the magnificent toucan-inspired Toucannon when the creature gets to level 28.

Grubbin -> Charjabug -> Vikavolt

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Grubbin

At first, Grubbin seems to be the standard 3-stage Bug-Type creature, usually aimed at teaching players about evolving. As such, the early-game Pokemon will evolve into Charjabug at level 20. However, Charjabug will not evolve into its final form Vikavolt unless leveled up in the Vast Poni Canyon area of Alola.

Cutiefly -> Ribombee

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Cutiefly

Arguably the most adorable new Pokemon to grace our screens, Cutiefly will evolve into Ribombee at level 25.

Salandit -> Salazzle

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Salandit

The new Poison/Fire-Type lizard is an interesting case – only the female variety evolve! Female Salandits will transform into Salazzle at level 33, but the males have no such luck.

Stufful -> Bewear

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Stufful

The cute-but-deadly bear Pokemon Stufful will evolve into the mighty Bewear at level 27.

Wimpod -> Golisopod

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Wimpod

The Water/Bug-Type Wimpod is a bit of a coward. However, hanging on to it until it reaches level 30 will pay off big time as the Pokemon becomes the incredibly powerful Golisopod.

Bounsweet -> Steenee -> Tsareena

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Bounsweet

The fruit Pokemon Bounsweet will evolve into Steenee at level 18. After that, the only condition that it needs to become its most poweful form, Tsareena, is that it knows the move Stomp.

Mudbray -> Mudsdale

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Mudbray

Ground-Type donkey Mudbray evolves into the much more formidable-looking Mudsdale at level 30.

Fomantis -> Lumantis

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Formantis

Fomantis, a Grass-Type creature, will evolve into Lumantis from level 34 onward, but only during the day time. Pokemon Moon owners will therefore have to wait until night real-time since the different versions of the games take place 12 hours apart.

Sandygast -> Palossand

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Sandygast

The sand/ghost creature Sandygast is a late bloomer, but will eventually evolve into the amazing sandcastle Pokemon Polossand at level 42.

Morelull -> Shiinotic

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Morelull

Another mushroom Pokemon joining the roster, Morelull will evolve into the slightly-larger fungus at level 24.

Crabrawler -> Crabominable

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Crabrawler

The crab/boxer creature Crabrawler will evolve into its furry, white evolution once leveled up in Alola’s Mount Lanakila area.

Type: Null -> Silvally

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Type: Null

A unique Pokemon with no typing, Type: Null won’t be acquirable until later on in the game. After players have gotten one of their very own, the Synthetic Pokemon will need its happiness to be raised by battling, feeding, and petting it, in order to evolve into Silvally.

Jangmo-o -> Hakamo-o ->Kommo-o

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Jangmo-o

The Dragon-Type Jangmo-o has an unusual name, but its evolutionary line is surprisingly straight forward. The creature will evolve into Hakamo-o at level 35, and then again into Kommo-o at level 45.

Alolan Rattata -> Alolan Raticate

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Alolan Rattata

Much like the non-Alolan variety, Alolan Rattata evolves into Alolan Raticate at level 20.

Pichu -> Pikachu -> Alolan Raichu

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Alolan Raichu

As normal, Pichu will evolve into the franchise’s signature Pokemon Pikachu by maxing out its happiness. After that, you’ll need a Thunder Stone to evolve it into the Electric/Psychic-Type Alolan Raichu.

Alolan Sandshrew -> Alolan Sandslash

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Alolan Sandshrew

Exclusive to Pokemon Moon, Alolan Sandshrew will evolve into Alolan Sandslash when presented with an Ice Stone.

Alolan Vulpix -> Alolan Ninetales

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Alolan Vulpix

The new Ice-Type Vulpix is exclusive to Pokemon Sun and will evolve into Alolan Ninetales when its trainer uses an Ice Stone.

Alolan Meowth -> Alolan Persian

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Alolan Meowth

Now a Dark-Type, Alolan Meowth now requires high friendship with its trainer to evolve into Alolan Persian, rather than leveling up like the normal variety.

Alolan Geodude -> Alolan Graveler -> Alolan Golem alolan-geodude

Identically to its non-Alolan variety, Alolan Geodude evolves into Alolan Graveller at level 25. After that, one must trade the Rock/Electric-Type with another player in order for it to evolve into its final form – Alolan Golem.

Alolan Grimer -> Alolan Muk

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Alolan Grimer

The colorful, toothed Alolan Grimer will evolve into the Poison/Dark-Type Alolan Muk at level 38.

Exeggcute -> Alolan Exeggutor

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Alolan Exeggutor

If trainers are looking to get their hands on the absurdly long-necked Alolan Exeggutor, all you need to do is use a Leaf Stone on a regular old Exeggcute.

Alolan Diglett -> Alolan Dugtrio

alolan-diglett

Alolan Diglett sports an interesting new haircut, as well as a new additional Steel typing. To evolve it into Alolan Dugtrio, simply have the creature reach level 26.

Cubone -> Alolan Marowak

Pokemon Sun and Moon: All the New Pokemon - Alolan Marowak

One of the more stylish new Alolan forms, Alolan Marowak is acquirable at level 28, so long as the Pokemon evolves during the night in-game. For Pokemon Sun users, that’s real-time night, whereas Pokemon Moon players need to evolve the creature during the actual daytime.

That’s all for Pokemon Sun and Moon‘s new evolutions. Of course, all classic creatures will evolve in the same ways as they have done in previous generations. For those unsure as to whether or not they should pick up the latest in the Pokemon franchise, they ought to check out our review of the game.

Pokemon Sun and Moon are available now, exclusively for Nintendo 3DS and 2DS.
