Terry Crews Wants to Voice Doomfist in Overwatch

Terry Crews Wants to Voice Doomfist in Overwatch

After a Reddit user suggested Terry Crews as a candidate to voice the mysterious Overwatch character Doomfist, the Hollywood actor himself responds with an enthusiastic yes.

In the months since its release, Blizzard’s online-multiplayer shooter Overwatch has drawn a considerable amount of critical acclaim for its unique take on the genre, and in particular, its memorable roster of heroes. With the recent release of the game’s latest character, the hacker Sombra, the big question now is who will be the next hero to enter the Overwatch roster. There is considerable speculation that the next hero to come is the mysterious Doomfist, given that the unseen, power-glove wielding character has been referenced a number of times in the game’s lore but has yet to be seen in action. While Blizzard have yet to deny or confirm anything, there won’t be much of an issue finding some voice acting talent for Doomfist should the character make it into the game.

Just recently over in the Overwatch subreddit, user SleepyRicky started a thread suggesting that Hollywood actor Terry Crews should provide the voice work for Doomfist if Blizzard ever decide to add the character into the game. Things then took a turn for the better when Terry Crews himself chimed in on the discussion from his official Reddit account, and stated emphatically that he would “LOVE TO PLAY DOOMFIST“.

While all this talk about Crews voicing Doomfist is all in good fun, it is not outside the realm of possibility that it could potentially happen. Just a couple of months ago, Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan stated that Blizzard were working one two new heroes before revealing Sombra, thus leading to speculation that the second of those two aforementioned heroes is Doomfist.

As for Crews’ credentials as an Overwatch voice actor, the Hollywood star has recently found a new following from the gaming community when he uploaded videos of himself building a new PC. In fact, Crews is also known as a fan of Blizzard’s online shooter, having recently posted to his official Facebook page telling his followers to cancel their plans because of the free Overwatch weekend that took place from November 18 to 21.

With more DLC and seasonal events still to come in the future, it remains to be seen whether Doomfist will actually make it into the game or if Crews will even voice the character. But given the lessons Blizzard learned with Sombra’s drawn out reveal, we can at least expect a better unveiling of the next Overwatch character, Doomfist or otherwise.

Overwatch is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
