Bungie Teases New Destiny Content Reveals

Bungie says the addition of new content in Destiny is about to ‘speed up again,’ giving fans hope that they’ll have more to play ahead of an official sequel.
Many Destiny fans are starting to feel that the latest expansion’s content is just about tapped. Rise of Iron’s new raid has debuted its Challenge Modes, and now comes the phase in Destiny after a content release when there is not much new content to consume. Most players are grinding to get all of their characters up to the 400 Light level cap and any near gear they may be chasing.
Bungie has said that Sparrow Racing League will return in December, which is expected to be announced next week at PlayStation Experience in Anaheim, just as it was last year. Beyond that, Year 3’s content looks bleak, but but fans may have a glimmer of hope.
Bungie said in its weekly blog that new content and reveals will be ramping up soon:
“The cadence of new content in Destiny is about to speed up again. We hope you can keep up.”
Bungie’s community manager, DeeJ, later tweeted saying that the conversation will start again after the holidays, so expect news to come sometime after January, after the Sparrow Racing League live event ends.

Fans are hoping Bungie can avoid the content drought that occurred after The Taken King, which lasted months before the small April Update infused a little bit of life back into the game for a time. Rise of Iron is an even smaller expansion than The Taken King, and with most of Bungie reportedly working on Destiny 2, there are a lot of questions about how much new content fans will be getting in Year 3.
Activision has said it is working with Bungie on a smarter way to provide fans with a steady stream of content in the wake of the sequel, but perhaps whatever strategy that exists is trickling down into the ramp up to an actual sequel.
It’s expected that the next big update Bungie will be adding to the game is the hotly anticipated Sparrow Racing League and maybe even a larger ‘Winter’ update, which would make sense since the developer has said that the arrival of the Sparrow Racing League won’t only feature this option – as to engage with fans that weren’t big fans of the racing initiative. Who knows what’ll happen after that, but Bungie will have a long gap to fill between December and E3 – the latter of which is believed to have a formal announcement of Destiny 2.
Bungie’s plans for 2017 remain a mystery at this point. Destiny 2 is said to be on track for release next year, with most assuming the launch will mirror the fall release pattern Bungie’s games (namely Destiny and Halo) have always had. With that said, there’s always the possibility that a sequel could be coming sooner in the year. After all, many high profile games like Mass Effect and Uncharted 4 released in the first half of 2016 and still managed to enjoy critical and commercial success.
At this point, fans will have to wait and see what Bungie has in store for Destiny.
