No Man's Sky Base Building Update Coming Soon

Hello Games officially announces its survival and space exploration title No Man’s Sky is set to receive an update containing a base-building feature “soon.”

Although Sean Murray and his team at Hello Games has encountered loads of criticism after the launch of No Man’s Sky – the game’s Steam reviews are “overwhelmingly negative,” for instance – the developer is still set on providing the title with post-launch patches and updates. As a matter of fact, the studio has promised that the survival and space exploration release is set to receive one of the most-requested features in the coming weeks by adding a base-building aspect into the game with its next update.

According to Hello Games, No Man’s Sky‘s next major update is entitled the “Foundation Update,” for not only is it going to allow players to begin base-building, but also it is apparently setting the stage for further tweaks and alterations to come. However, the developer failed to provide particulars as to what the patch would include, nor did it define a specific time frame for the update, as the studio only said it will be coming “soon.”

While there’s not much to go on as far as the contents for No Man’s Sky‘s Foundation Update are concerned, Hello Games did allude to the controversy surrounding the game since its launch, which has included the developer receiving backlash from players demanding refunds, having its own subreddit close due to hateful criticism, and experiencing a strange hacking situation with its Twitter account. Not to mention, the studio has been under investigation by the Advertising Standards Authority for claims of false advertisements, but Hello Games remains positive that receptivity is key in winning back fans.

“The discussion around No Man’s Sky since release has been intense and dramatic. We have been quiet, but we are listening and focusing on improving the game that our team loves and feels so passionately about.

“Positive or negative feedback, you have been heard and that will truly help to make this a better game for everyone.”

With No Man’s Sky‘s developers seemingly intent on providing the game’s players with a fuller experience by way of post-launch DLC, there’s always the chance of the title’s user base returning in larger numbers should Hello Games follow through on its aim to satisfy fans. Of course, there’s also the possibility of the next patch driving gamers even further away, but one can’t really know until all of the facts about the Foundation Update are in. After all, Sean Murray promised folks that one of its past patches would make players “very happy,” but obviously, he was wrong on all accords.

Hopefully, No Man’s Sky‘s Foundation Update will not only be able to lay the groundwork for a much better release, but also make amends with disappointed fans. With any luck, No Man’s Sky will eventually be able to become what it set out to be, and give those yearning to explore a seemingly infinite cosmos more reasons to give the game another go.
