Final Fantasy 15 ‘Holiday Pack’ DLC Detailed

Final Fantasy 15 ‘Holiday Pack’ DLC Detailed

Final Fantasy 15‘s first DLC pack is titled the ‘Holiday Pack’ and will be available to all players with the exception of season pass holders, who will receive a premium version.

Now that Square Enix’s long-awaited RPG Final Fantasy 15 has been released, players around the world have been busy working through the game’s estimated 40-50 hour main story, as well as the 200 or so sidequests that are sprinkled across Lucis. Given that it’s been a couple of weeks since latest Final Fantasy installment was released, there are some players who have already worked their way through the game and are patiently awaiting for the first batch of post-game DLC to drop. Thankfully for those fans, it appears that the first DLC will be arriving just in time for the holidays.

According to a new report from Gematsu, the first downloadable content pack for Final Fantasy 15 will be titled the “Holiday Pack” and will come in two versions – one basic version that’s free, and one premium version for season pass holders. For those who don’t hold a season pass, the free version of the “Holiday Pack” DLC contains a number of free updates, a New Game Plus mode, seasonal picture frames for Prompto’s photos, as well as the following in-game items:

  • Level Stopper
  • Annihilation Victory Song
  • Moogle Chocobo Carnival T-Shirt Costume (Noctis-only, available after January update)
  • Limited Time Carnival Ticket

For those who have a Final Fantasy 15 season pass, the premium “Holiday Pack” DLC will contain everything in the basic version, as well as the following in-game items:

  • Protection Ring
  • Command Booster (Noctis-only)
  • Phantom Booster (Noctis-only)
  • Instant Kill Victory Song
  • Battle Technique Victory Song
  • Fortuitous Key
  • Stamina Anchor (Noctis-only)
  • Carnival Style Costume (Noctis-only, available after January update)
  • Picture Frames (Holiday Pack Limited Edition, available after January update)
  • Limited Time Carnival Ticket+

Both versions of the “Holiday Pack” DLC contains a “Limited Time Carnival Ticket” and a number of items that will only be usable when a carnival event arrives in an upcoming January update, the details of which have not yet been revealed yet other than the released image below. It remains to be seen what will arrive in January, but the scheduled update is expected to contain a patch to improve Final Fantasy 15‘s story, as well as the possible inclusion of a boss battle with Square Enix President and CEO Yosuke Matsuda.

As for when players can get their hands on the “Holiday Pack” DLC, it is set for launch in Japan on December 22 but has yet not been scheduled for release for Western audiences at the time of writing.

The reveal of the “Holiday Pack” is the latest in series of recent Final Fantasy 15 content announcements, and is set to be the first batch of post-game content to be released. To clear up any possible confusion over what DLC packs are what, the “Holiday Pack” is a standalone bundle and is unrelated to the previously announced Episode Gladiolus DLC, which will be the first story content pack to be released.

Couple the upcoming “Holiday Pack” with a massively successful first week launch and positive reviews across the board, it won’t be a surprise to see Final Fantasy 15 achieve its ambitious 10 million sales target very soon. That holds especially true with what appears to be a full slate of post-launch DLC planned for the foreseeable future.

Final Fantasy 15 is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The “Holiday Pack” DLC pack is scheduled for launch in Japan on December 22, 2016.
