Destiny Fan Creates Awesome Raid Weapon Concepts

With Destiny fans’ ongoing desire for old raids to come back to the game, one fan theorizes how refreshed raid weapons could work in the current state of the game.

After Destiny‘s current live event, The Dawning, ends, fans have virtually no roadmap to what lies ahead for Destiny in 2017. Despite Destiny‘s developer, Bungie, saying that work on Destiny is “never finished” and that it will start up the conversation with fans about what’s next after the New Year, Destiny fans are left wondering what content can be delivered in the next year.

One possibility, which fans have long been asking for, is the old Vault of Glass and Crota’s End raids coming back. However, that could pose some problems to the balance of the game, especially when it comes to the raid weapons. But one fan has come up with some pretty great concepts on how — if Bungie were to refresh the old raids — those weapons could be refreshed as well.

A redditor by the name of NFSgaming posted these concepts on the Destiny subreddit. And it takes a lot of notes from the raid weapons from the latest raid, Wrath of the Machine.

The main problem that needs to be solved if these weapons were ever to exist, is the fact that Bungie has made it clear that elemental primaries are a thing of the past. All the primaries from Vault of Glass and Crota’s End had an elemental burn on them, which Bungie felt allowed these weapons to become the best and only choice for players, thus limiting the variety of weapons in the game.

But to sidestep that issue, NFSgaming focused on making weapons that have elemental perks instead of being elemental primaries. It leads to replacements for weapons like the poweful Fatebringer, which instead of dealing Arc damage all the time, causes targets to explode with Arc damage on Precision Kills. Or a riff on Atheon’s Epilogue which theorizes a combination of the Glass Half Full perk and Void damage, making the bottom half of each magazine do more damage and deal Void damage.

The ideas here are actually quite sound, allowing the raid weapons to be something powerful that many players would want, but (in theory) avoiding them being too overpowered and getting around the “no elemental primaries” rule.

Again, these are just fan concepts, and Bungie has yet to confirm if the old raids are ever going to be refreshed or return at higher Light levels. Bungie has said before that its developers have discussed it as a possibility, but no news or even rumors hint at such an addition to the game. Some fans think that a collection of “Classified” items that recently appeared in the Destiny database could be related to old raids coming back, but that is pure conjecture at this point.

What do you think of these fan concepts? Would you want the old raids to return to Destiny? Let us know in the comments.
