Ariana Grande Coming to Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius

Ariana Grande Coming to Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius

Pop music sensation Ariana Grande takes to Instagram to reveal her character DW that will be added to the mobile game Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius in a future update.

Nickelodeon star turned mega popular pop singer Ariana Grande is now expanding into the gaming industry. Whereas her fellow celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift have done this by releasing their own mobile games, Grande is taking a much different route. Instead of a casual mobile title built on her brand name, Grande is being added to Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius as a playable character.

As announced on Instagram, Grande’s character in Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius will come to the game later this year. Her name is DW, and she bears Grande’s likeness, complete with the singer’s trademark bunny ears. Further details on the new character aren’t available at this time, but expect Square Enix to reveal a specific release date in the coming months.

Besides learning when Ariana Grande’s character will be added to Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius, fans may also be interested to learn how this partnership came to be. At a glance it might seem to have come out of the blue, but perhaps the dialogue started because Grande is a fan of Final Fantasy, or maybe Square Enix reached out to the singer in an attempt to license her image to increase interest in its game. Whatever the case may be, it would be nice to learn more about how Ariana Grande wound up in a Final Fantasy game.

Pop stars being involved in mobile titles is nothing new, but as previously stated, they usually create their own games. In those cases, many of the games are from the same studio, Glu, and feature similar “gameplay.” While some gamers may turn their nose at these games, there is serious money to be made. The Kim Kardashian game made $500 million in revenue back in 2015, for example.

Grande is popular enough to justify having her own mobile game in the vein of the hugely successful Kim Kardashian Hollywood, so it may seem odd to see her join forces with another brand. For what it’s worth, Grande seems genuinely enthusiastic about the project – she describes her character as the cutest thing she’s ever seen in her life – so maybe she just felt as though a Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius appearance would be more fulfilling work.

Whatever the case may be, Ariana Grande is making a unique entrance into the world of video games, and it will be interesting to see how things pans out. If her character proves popular enough, it’s possible that gamers may even see Grande make the transition to console Final Fantasy games at some point in the future.

Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius is available now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
