Destiny's Iron Banner Clash Returns for January

Destiny's Iron Banner Clash Returns for January

January’s Iron Banner PvP playlist is returning January 17th as Clash and brings with it the Iron Banner sidearm, rocket launcher, gauntlets, and chest armor.

Destiny’s Iron Banner has been dated for the month of January. It will go live in Destiny Tuesday, January 17th at 10 a.m. Pacific time. Last month’s Iron Banner was the Rift gametype, but this time around Iron Banner will be the 6v6 deathmatch Clash mode.

With the end of The Dawning and Sparrow Racing League, Iron Banner is one of the best ways to gear up and level up in Light. Loot will drop based on a player’s current Light level and can be awarded up to the level 400 Light cap. As always, the new Iron Banner vendor, Efrideet, will bring pre-rolled weapons and gear, with the same items (but with random rolls) dropping after matches.

The weapons available this Iron Banner are The Binding Blaze sidearm and The Titanium Orchid rocket launcher. As for the armor, gauntlets and chest armor will be in the loot pool. Outside of a chance to get gear at max Light, fans are likely to chase most a good roll on The Titanium Orchid rocket launcher. The rocket launcher has strong base stats, and depending on its roll it could be highly effective in PvP or PvE.

The Binding Blaze is a new archetype introduced in Rise of Iron, along with the sidearm obtained from the Wrath of the Machine raid. The problem with sidearms is that despite a buff that came in the update with Rise of Iron, they are not firmly in Destiny’s PvP meta right now. Most players are using high impact/high range shotguns right now, like the Matador 64 or Party Crasher +1. Many are countering shotgun play with specific fusion rifles like the Saladin’s Vigil, which can be found in Archon’s Forge.

The loot this time around does not seem to be something that players will really grind for, like when Clever Dragon made its way to Iron Banner. However, as always, players can earn different rewards by completing the Iron Bounty weekly bounties and it is one of the best ways to get high level loot.

Outside of the monthly Iron Banner playlist and Trials of Osiris every weekend, there is little that has been announced in terms of new content for Destiny. However, Bungie did tease that Destiny will be getting another content update this year, although exactly what that is remains unknown.

Will you be playing Iron Banner this month? What are you be hoping to get? Let us know in the comments.

Destiny: Rise of Iron is available now on PS4 and Xbox One.
