ME: Andromeda on Scorpio Under Consideration by BioWare

Mass Effect: Andromeda‘s Creative Director, Mac Walters, suggests the possibility of BioWare’s forthcoming science fiction game getting a version for Project Scorpio.

About a couple of months ago, Mass Effect: Andromeda‘s Creative Director, Mac Walters, revealed that the PS4 Pro version’s frame rate is still undecided, as BioWare was then quick to confirm the game’s availability on the system, but unsure about how its specs would pan out with the hardware. Now, it seems as if Mass Effect: Andromeda will not only be launching on Sony’s enhanced console, but also on Microsoft’s as well, for Walters recently suggested that there could be a version of the title for Project Scorpio in the future.

While speaking in an interview with Official Xbox Magazine (via GamesRadar), Walters said that due to the fact Mass Effect: Andromeda‘s launch date is set for a little more than two months from now and Project Scorpio has a release window for holiday 2017, he’s unsure about whether a version of the game for Microsoft’s forthcoming console would be an actuality. However, Walters did go on to confirm that it’s “something we’d definitely consider looking at, for sure.”

“Given our Spring release date, I’m not sure exactly what we’re going to be able to support at that time, but we have a strong service plan for ME that will continue past our release date. If we do a Game of the Year edition, or a future edition or something like that, that’s something we’d definitely consider looking at, for sure.”

Roughly two weeks ago, Mass Effect: Andromeda‘s producer Michael Gamble revealed that there were “absolutely no plans” to make improvements to the Project Scorpio version of the video game, making the prospects of an enhanced version for Microsoft’s upgraded console unlikely. However, with the game’s Creative Director sounding open to the possibility, Andromeda could very well go on to receive a more refined iteration for Project Scorpio.

As far as the visuals for Mass Effect: Andromeda are concerned, no matter on which platform that gamers choose to play the title, BioWare’s General Manager, Aaron Flynn, has assured fans that the science fiction shooter-RPG is going to look great across the board in regards to the game’s HDR support. This is due to the fact that about a week ago, the BioWare GM made confirmation of the game containing HDR support on all of its available platforms.

While PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One gamers will be able to buy copies of Mass Effect: Andromeda soon enough, Nintendo fans might not be able to do so at all. As it happens, the title’s producer Michael Gamble has said that BioWare is “not planning” on making a Switch port. Of course, with the studio focusing primarily on prepping Mass Effect: Andromeda for its confirmed platforms, there’s no telling what the future holds when it comes to the game being launched for other consoles.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is set to launch on March 21, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
