Grand Theft Auto 5 Liberty City Mod Screens

Grand Theft Auto 5 Liberty City Mod Screens

Check out the latest screenshots for the OpenIV mod that is looking to bring the entirety of Grand Theft Auto 4‘s Liberty City to Grand Theft Auto 5 on PC.

Years after its release, Grand Theft Auto 5 is still going strong, thanks to a thriving online community, frequent content updates, and since it made its way to PC, a line of high quality mods. One of the biggest mods on the horizon for Grand Theft Auto 5 may be the most impressive yet, however, as it is looking to add Grand Theft Auto 4‘s massive Liberty City to the game. This is a monumental task to be sure, but if recently released screenshots are any indication, the project is progressing well.

The team creating the Liberty City mod, currently known as OpenIV, has released a batch of screenshots from the alpha version. The screenshots show various locations from Grand Theft Auto 4‘s version of Liberty City, and it looks like the city is being perfectly replicated for Grand Theft Auto 5 in the mod. In fact, the screenshots could pass for actual Grand Theft Auto 4 screenshots if they didn’t show Grand Theft Auto 5 protagonist Franklin Clinton driving around the city.

We selected a few of the most eye-catching screenshots for anyone interested in seeing how the OpenIV project is turning out so far. However, the OpenIV website has even more screens of the ambitious Grand Theft Auto 5 mod project for those that want to see more.

Based on the new screenshots released by the OpenIV team, the Liberty City mod for Grand Theft Auto 5 is shaping up to be rather impressive. If nothing else, it will give those that have thoroughly explored Los Santos a new location to cause mayhem in, which should add significant replayability to the already meaty game.

While PC players have good reason to look forward to this elaborate mod, it doesn’t seem as though console fans will ever have the chance to explore Liberty City as the three playable characters from Grand Theft Auto 5. So far, Rockstar Games has opted out of allowing mods for the console versions of Grand Theft Auto 5, despite the fact that other open world games, including Fallout 4 and Skyrim, feature console mods.

Rockstar is still releasing official updates for Grand Theft Auto 5 itself, including one just a week ago that added a new car and game mode, so console gamers still have some new content to look forward to, even if they don’t get to try out impressive mods like this Liberty City project from the OpenIV team. These official content updates from Rockstar will have to suffice for console players because it doesn’t seem like mod support is coming to Grand Theft Auto 5 on PS4 or Xbox One any time soon, but fans shouldn’t rule out the possibility of the feature appearing in Rockstar’s next game, Red Dead Redemption 2.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is available now for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
