Horizon: Zero Dawn Gets TV, Theatrical Trailer

Guerrilla Games releases a new television and theatrical trailer for its forthcoming open world action-RPG and PlayStation 4 exclusive, Horizon: Zero Dawn.

Now that Horizon: Zero Dawn has less than a couple of weeks to go before its official release date at the end of this month, it seems as if Sony and Guerrilla Games are preparing to push the title’s marketing campaign into overdrive so as to convince as many people as possible into purchasing it upon launch day. With this likely being the case, the developer has now partnered with Sony Interactive Entertainment to put out a brand new trailer for Horizon: Zero Dawn that will be shown in the UK and Europe on both television and in theaters.

As seen below in the trailer courtesy of PlayStation EU’s YouTube channel, the latest Horizon: Zero Dawn trailer is entitled “Earth Is Ours No More,” and it begins with a brief look at what the world was like before it was “plunged into darkness,” as a time-lapse shows a bright, bustling metropolis gradually shift into a world in which the natural environment takes over its crumbling infrastructure. Less than half a minute in and the footage also introduces gaming fans to the game’s robo-dinosaur machines, with the protagonist Aloy narrating and doing battle with one of the creatures.

The second half of Horizon: Zero Dawn‘s TV spot and theatrical trailer offers up quick glimpses at some of the playable action and cutscenes that will be found in the title when it launches, as it features looks at some previously revealed gameplay footage, as well as several more machine and human enemies. Not to mention, the newest promotional video for the title also manages to pack in split-second glances at several little segments from the game’s cinematic story trailer.

Of course, Horizon: Zero Dawn isn’t the first PlayStation 4 exclusive to receive its own trailer specifically for television and movie audiences. As a matter of fact, the developer Naughty Dog teamed up with Sony to put out an epic trailer for its action-adventure title Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, which went on to be shown on both TV during ad spots and prior to the beginning of many major motion pictures.

Bearing all of this in mind, it’s safe to presume that Guerrilla Games and Sony’s TV and theatrical trailer will help stoke the flames in the hearts of fans who believe Horizon: Zero Dawn to be one of the most highly anticipated video games of 2017, and could potentially push those who are currently on the fence about the game into buying it at launch. Should Horizon: Zero Dawn go on to post huge sales numbers after its impending release, Sony will surely be looking to option the title for sequels in order to tap into its franchise potential.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is set to release on February 28, 2017 in North America, and on March 1, 2017 in the UK as a PlayStation 4 exclusive.
