Danganronpa V3 Release Date for PS4, Vita Revealed

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony is launching September 26 for the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita, says NIS America as part of the publisher/localizer’s annual press event.

NIS America, consummate publisher and localizer of a variety of Japanese games, held its annual press briefing yesterday and discussed a number of upcoming releases. Among them was Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, which fans can now look forward to on September 26 for both the PlayStation 4 and the PS Vita.

Alongside a mascot-sized Monokuma, Danganronpa V3 writer Kazutaka Kodaka, took to the stage during yesterday’s NIS America press briefing to discuss the upcoming game. He also took some time to mention just how envious he is of the Persona franchise’s sales and that he hopes Danganronpa V3‘s release on PlayStation 4 could fuel the series to several sales as well.

Kodaka didn’t have any revelations for fans regarding Danganronpa V3, but did state that this would be a new setting, an all new cast, and an all new killing game. Perhaps he meant to imply that Danganronpa V3 would be a good place for new players to start, but more likely he was simply stating this is a true full sequel and not a side story like the recently released Another Episode. Kodaka’s big final announcement was of course Danganronpa V3‘s release date of September 26.

Danganronpa fans were probably hoping for a more substantial reveal, but with Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony still being more than half a year away from release there’s not much NIS America could have done. NIS America will likely be far enough along in localization for a full-length trailer by E3. For now, Danganronpa fans will have to settle for the release date and the upcoming release of Danganronpa 1-2 Reload on PlayStation 4 at the end of March. For those who can’t wait, Reload is already available on both Vita and PC.

Danganronpa V3 wasn’t the only game that NIS America had to show during their annual press event, though. Five new localization announcements were made, including: RPG Maker Fes, Culdcept Revolt, Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle, and Tokyo Tattoo Girls. The highlight of the night, however, was the pickup of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. Originally launched in Japan as Vita exclusive last year, Ys VIII will come to PlayStation 4 as well later this year. Disgaea, Danganronpa, and now Ys give NIS America a solid 2017 lineup and plenty for JRPG fans to look forward to.

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony releases September 26, 2017 for PS4.
