The official guide for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild reveals an interesting statistic about the game’s progression. The guidebook for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, published by Piggyback, includes a page about the game’s completion rate, stating that “every relevant objective that you fulfill will contribute approximately 0.08% to your overall completion rate.”
This means that for every shrine that players complete, each Korok seed that they collect, every boss that they manage to take down, and each location that players discover, they get just eight 100ths of a percent, which isn’t very much at all. And while some Breath of the Wild speedrunners are having a grand time speeding through the fantasy RPG, for those who are aiming to get the full 100%, it highlights the incredibly daunting and time-consuming task that lies ahead of them.
And it should also be kept in mind that the base version of Breath of the Wild isn’t even the full slate of content that the Wii U and Nintendo Switch game is set to offer. The game’s premium DLC is still in development according to Nintendo, but a season pass that went on sale before the game launched confirmed that there will be at least two significant expansions released for the game this year. Completionists must be sweating at the prospect.
What is at least positive is the fact that the road to 100% is relatively bug-free. Nintendo Switch hardware issues aside, the only thing stopping players is the time it will take, as well as their willpower. For the most part, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild does not appear to be a buggy game, which is just one of the reasons why it is one of the most well-reviewed video games of all-time.
Although one player recently reported a bizarre fast-travel and horse glitch that crashes the game and saw them having to restart their console, game-breaking technical issues do not seem to be present, and few players have reported problems with the game. So long as Nintendo’s attitude to quality assurance continues with the game’s DLC, Breath of the Wild players with plenty of time on their hands and some perseverance can without a doubt get themselves in the 100% club.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is now available on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Wii U.
