Prey Trailer Shows the Different Typhon Alien Enemies

With each passing month, more and more information seems to arrive for Arkane Studios and Bethesda’s mysterious reboot of Prey. While previous gameplay segments showed off main protagonist Morgan Yu and the weird experiments taking place, a brand new trailer for Prey reveals the strange new alien variants players will be up against while exploring the space station.

After a science experiment aimed at improving and bettering humanity accidentally unleashed an infestation of aliens known as the Typhon, it has fallen to Morgan to clean up the mess. As detailed in the infomercial-like trailer, each Typhon species appears to fit a specific role, starting with the small creature known as the mimic, which is able to take the shape of most inanimate objects hiding in plan sight. Previous trailers have showcased this creature, hinting at a similar ability for Morgan that even allows him to morph into objects like toilet paper.

Unfortunately, things only get more dangerous from there in the form of Phantoms and Telepaths. While not human, the Phantom is the result of Typhon DNA mixing with a human corpse. These creatures pose a significant threat as they’re able to shoot kinectic energy based projectiles or use their limbs to dish out significant damage at close range. Fans have already gotten a glimpse of these aliens thanks to the Game Awards 2016 trailer.

On the other hand, Telepaths are regarded as one of the most dangerous known Typhon creatures as it uses psychic abilities to control weaker minded organisms. What this means for the player isn’t yet known as the trailer simply shows energy based projectiles being launched from the Telepath. An ability or device known as a Psychic Nullwave appears to be something the player can use to counteract the powers of this creature.

As its release date quickly approaches, the buzz surrounding this title appears to be pretty positive. A recent preview event gave fans a better look at the first-person shooter meets RPG mechanics, with some even relating a BioShock sort of feel to the game. Considering Arkane Studios has a wealth of experience mixing first-person combat with role-playing elements thanks to the Dishonored franchise, things appear to be looking up for this title.
