Super Smash Bros. Bayonetta and Corrin DLC Release Date

Super Smash Bros. Bayonetta and Corrin DLC Release Date

Nintendo announces the official release date of Bayonetta, Corrin, and the sixth wave of Mii Fighter costumes coming to Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U.

Nintendo has officially announced the release date for the final Super Smash Bros. DLC fighters, Bayonetta and Corrin. According to the official Nintendo of America Twitter account, Bayonetta and Corrin will both be available in February, as Nintendo previously promised.

Specifically, the two fighters can be purchased and downloaded on February 3rd. Bayonetta, who hails from the game series of the same name, and Corrin, the latest fighter from the Fire Emblem series, were announced during the Super Smash Bros. Nintendo Direct by Masahiro Sakurai. Though some gamers were surprised by the choices for the final fighters to enter the Smash Bros. arena, Bayonetta was the #1 choice amongst European voters voting in the Super Smash Bros. character ballot.

Bayonetta will arrive alongside her own Umbral Clock Tower stage, and will cost $5.99 for one system, or $6.99 for users who want to play as Bayonetta on both 3DS and Wii U systems. Corrin, who comes solo without a stage, costs $4.99 for one system or $5.99 for both. Both characters will also be receiving Amiibo at some point in the future. However, the exact date for the Amiibo is uncertain, with Nintendo only stating that they will arrive sometime this year. However, considering that the Ryu and Roy Amiibo are slated for March 16th, gamers probably shouldn’t expect Bayonetta and Corrin to join them until at least summer.

The sixth wave of Mii Fighter costumes will also be released at the same time. The lineup includes costumes based off Ashley from WarioWare, Tails and Knuckles from Sonic the Hedgehog, Gil from the Tower of Duraga, Takamaru from Nazo no Murasame-jo, and Bionic Armor. The costume bundle can be purchased for $4.50 or $6.90 depending on whether gamers want it for one system or both. Additionally, both Bayonetta, Corrin, and the Mii Fighter costumes can all be picked up in one bundle for $15.48 for one system or $19.88 for both.

Sakurai previously stated that DLC for Super Smash Bros. would be coming to an end, which has disappointed some gamers. Many players were still holding out for favorite characters who appeared in prior games, like Snake of Metal Gear Solid, or for new characters like Shovel Knight, which was rumored to come to Super Smash Bros. with the Shovel Knight Amiibo.

However, even if it is the end of the DLC, there’s still potential hope for gamers who wanted to see a different cast of characters. There are currently rumors that Super Smash Bros. will launch with the Nintendo NX, which could potentially include an even bigger cast. It’s hard to say at this point, but perhaps the Smash Ballot was designed to help Nintendo to choose characters for the next iteration of Super Smash Bros., too.

In any case, playing as two new characters and on one new stage should help to keep the current iteration of Super Smash Bros. fresh for a bit longer.

Bayonetta, Corrin, and the Mii Fighter costumes will be released for Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS and Wii U on February 3rd.
