BioShock: The Collection Tops UK Sales Charts

BioShock: The Collection Tops UK Sales Charts

Following its public release last week, 2K’s BioShock: The Collection officially goes on to debut at the top of the United Kingdom’s software sales charts.

Despite the recent news of BioShock: The Collection‘s PC remaster missing features and containing a plethora of bugs, 2K’s visually enhanced compendium for the dystopian trilogy has amassed a favorable amount of sales across its various platforms. As a matter of fact, the title has gone on to move enough units in the UK that it has topped the area’s software sales charts within the first week of its release.

According to the sales monitor Chart-Track, a total of seven new games were released during the week, including BioShock: The Collection, and only four of the titles went on to make it into the top 10 spots on the charts. Just behind 2K’s remasters for its first-person shooters in the number 2 slot is Pro Evolution Soccer 2017, with NBA 2K17 arriving in the third spot, and Microsoft’s ReCore debuting at number 5.

Aside from the aforementioned new releases, those remaining are Dragon Quest 7: The Forgotten Past, NHL 17, and Batman: The Telltale Series, which placed respectively at the number 12, number 15, and number 19 positions. For those interested, the UK’s full top 10 for the week ending in September 17 can be found below. However, it’s important to note that the list doesn’t take digital sales data into account, and can’t necessarily be representative of all of the games sales within the UK.

  1. BioShock: The Collection
  2. Pro Evolution Soccer 2017
  3. NBA 2K17
  4. Overwatch
  5. ReCore
  6. Rocket League
  7. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
  8. Grand Theft Auto 5
  9. No Man’s Sky
  10. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Although some might argue that last week didn’t really contain enough strong releases to compete with BioShock: The Collection for chart supremacy, the anthology’s entrance at the number one spot for UK sales definitely speaks to the series’ popularity. After all, many fans and critics alike consider the original titles to be among some of the top games of the last generation for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Of course, it’s quite possible for BioShock: The Collection to maintain its position at the top of the UK charts for this week, especially since there aren’t too many major competitors to challenge its dominance beyond Destiny: The Collection, which is set to drop tomorrow for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One alongside the release of its expansion Rise of Iron. Beyond those titles, however, the last week of September could belong to FIFA 17, as the long-running soccer franchise from EA Sports tends to sell extremely well with each version that comes out.

Whatever the case may be for the rest of September’s sales in the UK, it’s safe to speculate that BioShock: The Collection might not be able to keep a foothold in the top 10 of the charts once some of the big holiday releases start coming out starting next month. For instance, not only will it have Gears of War 4 and Battlefield 1 with which to contend in October, but also Activision’s juggernaut first-person shooter series is set to release Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare in November, with even more heavy-hitters primed for blockbuster sales later this year.

BioShock: The Collection is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
