Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Beta Details Revealed

Activision releases details about the upcoming Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare beta, including which Combat Rigs, maps, and Mission Teams will be included.

Next weekend, gamers will get their first experience with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare thanks to a beta open to anyone who’s preordered the upcoming shooter. Starting October 14, PlayStation 4 gamers will have a chance to try the game for a few days. Then, on October 21 PlayStation 4 owners will be joined by Xbox One gamers in a second round of beta gameplay.

In preparation for the impending Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare beta, Activision has released a few details about the beta, including which Combat Rigs and multiplayer maps will be available. During the beta, players will be able to use three of the six possible Combat Rigs, which are special suits that offer unique tactical benefits.

Each Rig comes with a Payload, which is a weapon earned in the game and can be used to boost the Rig, and Traits, which are passive abilities that benefit the player throughout the match. The three Combat Rigs coming to the Infinite Warfare beta are The Warfighter, The Merc, and The Synaptic.

The Warfighter Rig is perfect for players that prefer mid-range gun battles. It offers players the Claw, Combat Focus, and Overdrive Payloads. The Merc is great for heavy defense, and comes with Steel Dragon and Bull Charge Payloads. Finally, the Synaptic is made for close combat with Payloads that let players rewind their position and fill up health and ammo.

Players will have access to three maps in the Infinite Warfare beta: Frontier, Frost, and Throwback. Frontier takes place on a space station that’s perfect for fast-paced gunfights. Frost is located on a research station on one of Jupiter’s moons, and gives players a chance to take on the other team using methodical coordination. Throwback also takes place on a space station, though the setting is a throwback to the 1950s.

The Infinite Warfare beta will feature four game modes, one of which is new to the series. Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Kill Confirmed will all be available and play like they have in past Call of Duty titles. Defender, the new game mode, tasks players with picking up a drone and defending it against the enemy until it resets.

As gamers play through the beta, they will get a chance to try out the new Mission Teams. Mission Teams allow players to gain team ranks by completing missions while members of a team. The team’s commander will deliver missions, and players will gain rewards for completing them.

Rewards include calling cards, Rig cosmetics, and emblems. Two of the game’s four Mission Teams will be available to players in the beta: the JTF Wolverines, who focus on aggressive combat, and the Orion Initiative, which leans toward strategy and objective-based missions.

In addition to the above details, Infinity Ward has hinted at numerous surprises awaiting players who enter the Infinite Warfare beta.
