Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Revealed at PSX

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Revealed at PSX

To open the events of PlayStation Experience 2016, Sony reveals Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, a new standalone Uncharted experience that follows the series’ Chloe Frazer.

PlayStation Experience 2016 opened up in style with a mysterious trailer for a new PlayStation 4 exclusive title. The trailer showed a woman in a hijab traversing the streets of an unknown city as she moves toward a red door as directed by a cryptic text.

The woman evades detection and capture from a group of militants as they go door-to-door, pulling people from their homes and stirring up trouble in the street. That ends, however, when she’s confronted by a group of soldiers on a rooftop. A fight ensues, with the woman and a fellow female fighter claiming victory over the militants. The woman removes her hijab, revealing herself to be Chloe Frazer, an iconic character from the Uncharted series. This is Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Check out the trailer below.

Last year, when the PlayStation team was discussing Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, it became clear it was the end of an era. The series’ main protagonist, Nathan Drake, was set to leave the series, but surely this wouldn’t be the end of the Uncharted franchise. Fortunately for gamers around the world, it’s not. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, which is a standalone chapter in the Uncharted universe, is the first step of the franchise carrying forward into the future.

For those unfamiliar with the Uncharted series, Frazer was first introduced in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. She was revealed to have been in a relationship with Drake prior to the events of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, the first game in the franchise. To date, little has been known about Frazer’s past, though she’s obviously skilled in hand-to-hand combat and treasure hunting.

Frazer will be joined by Uncharted 4’s Nadine Ross. In A Thief’s End, Ross plays one of the game’s antagonists, so it will be interesting to see what part she plays in Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. These two women together seem to hint at the new title being a prequel to the previous four Uncharted games.

Concerning Frazer, hopefully Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will be where Naughty Dog explains the treasure hunter’s past. She’s already been a compelling and interesting character, so there’s no doubt the new title will do well. That, and the fact that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was hailed as a near masterpiece by gamers and critics alike. We at Game Rant gave the title a perfect score.

That said, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will have a lot to live up to. The Uncharted series is one of the best selling points for PlayStation, along with Naughty Dog’s other titles. So it’s important for the developer to do right by the franchise and create a compelling immersive experience for the new direction. Judging by the above trailer, it looks like the developer is already on the right track.

What do you think about the Uncharted: The Lost Legacy trailer? Will the game live up to the Uncharted name?

There’s currently no release date for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. When it does release, it will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive.
