Microsoft makes each title in 2K and Irrational Games’ BioShock trilogy available on Xbox One by way of the platform’s backward compatibility program.

It’s no secret that Microsoft’s decision to make Xbox One backward compatible with Xbox 360 games has resulted in resounding support from legions of fans, especially with the program’s catalog continuing to grow. Now, the company is providing fans with three of what are arguably among some of the top games of the last generation, by including 2K and Irrational Games’ BioShock trilogy to the Xbox One’s backward compatible library.

As announced by Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb via Twitter, each of the three first-person shooters are available to be played on the Xbox One today, which officially brings the backward compatible program’s list of games up to 300-plus titles. Bearing this in mind, should any fans already own any of the BioShock games for Xbox 360, then they ought to show up automatically in the Xbox One game library.

Even though the BioShock titles are major fan-favorites and have been critically-acclaimed since their respective launches, it’s safe to say that not everyone who games primarily on Xbox One actually own the releases. Should that be the case for some players, each of the dystopian shooters are available for purchase through the Xbox marketplace, with BioShock going for $20, BioShock 2 being listed at $20 as well, and BioShock: Infinite having a price point of $30.

For instance, gamers can simply buy the original disc versions of the titles, or they could pick up a copy of BioShock: The Collection, which includes updated graphics for all of the games in the series, as well as every aspect of post-launch content, including, but not limited to BioShock 2‘s Minerva’s Den expansion, and Infinite‘s Burial at Sea DLC.

While the inclusion of all the BioShock games in Xbox One’s backward compatibility program is undoubtedly great news, fans of the franchise are most certainly still looking forward to experiencing a brand new entry in the franchise. So far, 2K has pledged to make a sequel with a new setting, but it has been nearly three years since the company’s initial promise of a followup after Infinite. Although there has been no official word regarding a continuation of the series after Irrational Games shut down, one can only hope for any piece of news in 2017 pertaining to the franchise being revived.
