Overwatch: Reapers Shotguns Recreated in LEGO Form

This LEGO genius and Overwatch fan recreates a perfect replica of Reaper’s hellfire shotguns and skull mask from just over 1,000 pieces of the classic building toy.

Like all Blizzard games, Overwatch has already managed to become a pop culture phenomenon and fans around the world spend hours both playing the game and creating fan-art, fan-fic, and cosplay inspired by the first-person shooter’s bizarre universe and cast of characters. Overwatch fans had the chance to see some amazing fan-made costumes and weapons at BlizzCon 2016, but the latest brilliant take on an Overwatch character comes courtesy of YouTube.

LEGO genius ZaziNobmies has a YouTube channel dedicated to making LEGO creations inspired by everything from Pokemon to Legend of Zelda to Call of Duty. In recent months, Zazi has created a few different Overwatch weapons and his latest project takes on Reaper’s dual-wielded hellfire shotguns. The shotguns are a fan-favorite and the clean black and chrome design seem to have made them a perfect choice for a LEGO tribute.

Check out the video to see how Zazi created both of the shotguns, a few LEGO shotgun shells, and a Reaper mask…

Compared to some of Zazi’s other video game-inspired creations, like Destiny’s Gjallarhorn, Reaper’s shotguns are actually a fairly simple design. The props still require about 550 pieces per gun, but their sleek design definitely makes them seem a lot easier to put together for LEGO fanatics who have all of the required hardware. There isn’t much function to the weapons, but they do fire a small projectile that could knock over a few very light targets. The skull mask is even more simple and could probably be throw together by even a LEGO novice if they had all of the correct pieces at hand.

As Overwatch approaches its first anniversary in summer 2017, it will be interesting to see how well it retains this hardcore fanbase that it currently has. Many other Blizzard games have remained popular for decades and become some of the most iconic franchises in all of gaming, so we look forwarding to finding out if that level of enthusiasm persists for Overwatch, as well.

If the LEGO shotguns get readers into the Overwatch mood, the holiday event is currently underway, which makes this a perfect time to jump back into the shooter for anyone who has been taking a break. Players are able to explore over 100 new cosmetics with over a dozen skins, a Mei-themed snowball brawl, and more. The event ends on January 2, so be sure to get at least a few matches in over the next two weeks to earn some of the sweet new rewards.

Overwatch is currently available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
