Destiny Funko Pop Figures Coming Next Year

The vinyl toy company Funko Pop officially announces its intentions to partner with Bungie for the release of a line of Destiny figures sometime next year.

It’s no secret that a large portion of video game fans are also ardent collectors of pop culture memorabilia related to the gaming medium, especially when one takes into account the sizeable selection of toys and action figures in existence, with Square Enix’s forthcoming Play Arts Kai line of Final Fantasy 7‘s Cloud Strife and Barret Wallace models being only one example. Now, it seems as if Bungie’s science fiction shooter Destiny is prepared to have its brand extended even more so into the realm of collectibles, with the vinyl toy company Funko Pop having just recently announced its decision to release its own line of Destiny figures sometime next year.

Would-be Guardians in Destiny‘s subreddit were given the news by user white2234, with the Redditor posting a screenshot of Funko Pop’s CEO Brian Mariotti announcing that his company would be creating models inspired by Bungie’s action-RPG. Although the toy manufacturer’s CEO didn’t state exactly when the figures would make their way into the market, or how much they would cost, he did also reveal that there are plenty of other video game franchises receiving the Funko Pop treatment as well.

In addition to Destiny figures, Funko Pop is set to launch new toys based off of Sonic the Hedgehog, Tekken, Dragon Age, Street Fighter, Mega Man, Overwatch, and even some retro games. As far as the lattermost line of toys is concerned, there has been no additional word on what franchises will be done in the fashion of Funko Pop’s products, but perhaps fans will be privy to nods to the past with items related to Space Invaders, Pac-Man, Q*bert, Centipede, Asteroids, and more.

Of course, while all of Funko Pop’s plans for next year include a swath of great series in their toy line, it’s safe to presume that Destiny fans will be the most excited to have Hunter, Titan, and Warlock figures to proudly display on their shelves. After all, the community for Bungie’s first-person shooter have been clamoring for Funko Pop toys based on the game for quite some time.

Since the release of Destiny back in 2014, fans of the franchise have seen several other toy companies put their own spin on the series. As it happens, several months ago, the game’s developers partnered with Mega Bloks to make official products based off of the title. Not to mention, the toy manufacturer threeA released a couple of highly-detailed Warlock and Hunter action figures back in July of this year.

Taking all of this into consideration, it’s safe to presume that Funko Pop’s Destiny toys will go on to sell like hotcakes once they’re released to the public. While there’s no confirmation as to whether or not the company will stick primarily to Guardians or include enemy types in the toy line too, most Destiny fans will likely be willing to lay down their money for Funko Pop’s wares modeled after the game no matter which characters are represented first.

Destiny is available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
