Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Stays at No. 1 in UK

UK sales tracker Chart-Track announces the best-selling physical releases in the UK for the week ending on December 24th, with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare at the top.

Call of Duty sales are down 50%, which may seem like a big blow, but Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is still topping the sales charts regardless. Dominating November sales in numerous categories, the game has been the top selling title in the UK for weeks, maintaining its number one spot with no signs of slowing down.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare‘s chart-topping streak was extended yet again, according to Chart-Track, which collect sales data in the UK. In the week ending December 24th, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare managed to outsell fierce competition, including the likes of FIFA 17Battlefield 1Watch Dogs 2, and Final Fantasy 15, to be the top-selling physical release in the UK for the third consecutive week.

It’s worth noting that Chart-Track only takes into account a game’s physical sales. Even if digital sales were accounted for, however, it’s doubtful that any of the other games on the best sellers list would have eclipsed Call of Duty: Infinite WarfareInfinite Warfare has been steamrolling its competition on digital marketplaces, becoming the most-downloaded PS4 game for the month of November, and also earning the title of best-selling digital game in November period.

Activision has yet to share exact sales figures for Infinite Warfare, but it seems as though the game doing well for itself, despite not reaching the same heights as its predecessors. After all, Infinite Warfare is still topping sales charts in the UK and elsewhere, plus it was recently revealed to be the top grossing console game of 2016.

Looking ahead, there’s a good chance that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will retain its top spot on the UK sales charts for at least a few more weeks. January’s new release lineup is sparse, with most of the biggest games not releasing until the end of the month. Even then, January’s biggest release is Resident Evil VII, which is taking major risks with the established Resident Evil formula, and may alienate some fans as a result.

Future sales performance aside, it’s a testament to the incredible blockbuster success of games in the Call of Duty series that Infinite Warfare can lose half of the franchise’s typical sales and still dominate sales charts. As long as Infinity Ward is able to keep building the game’s audience and retain loyal players with upcoming DLC expansions, then it may eventually be as popular as other games in the long-running Call of Duty franchise.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
