Rumor: Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy Release Date Leaks

A Brazilian retailer seems to have prematurely revealed the release date for the hotly anticipated Crash Bandicoot: N Sane Trilogy, pegging the game for release very soon.
As a major blast from the past, the return of Crash Bandicoot is sure to be something of an event for many longtime gamers. Despite the lack of a brand new entry in the series, Sony and Activision appear to be testing the waters of the IP with a remastered take on the orange marsupial’s original three games – only on PlayStation 4. Appropriately called Crash Bandicoot: N Sane Trilogy, fans have been waiting anxiously to get their hands on it, but neither company involved with its release have issued an official release date.
With that said, it appears that the launch date of Crash Bandicoot: N Sane Trilogy may have been ousted by Brazilian gaming retailer Zillion Games (via Gametransfers). According to the online store, the blockbuster remaster is set to arrive fairly soon, with an alleged release of February 28, 2017. Taking this listing at face value, gamers should be wary of how legitimate this posting may be, as a look at Zillion Games’ listing does indeed utilize screenshots of Crash Bandicoot in a newer game – albeit within the newest Skylanders.
Fans got their very first look at Crash Bandicoot: N Sane Trilogy in action during PlayStation Experience 2016. Since then, anticipation for the return of Crash has slowly been building, which is why any potential news regarding the mascot’s return is enough to (at least temporarily) satiate the needs of fans chomping at the bit for details on the Bandicoot. Perhaps this release date leak isn’t the best means of scratching that N Sane Trilogy itch, but retailers have ousted gaming launches in the past.
Keeping all of this in mind, February 28th seems like it would be a rather quick turn around for the project – especially since Sony didn’t even show gameplay during its E3 2016 reveal. Of course, it’s possible that Activision started development on the Crash Bandicoot revamp quite some time ago, and fans can anticipate a much sooner release as a result.
Regardless of what the actual release date ends up being, it’ll be interesting to see how well the audience takes to the character’s return. With the future of Crash Bandicoot likely riding on the success of the N Sane Trilogy, those hoping to see more of the witless spin-monster will just have to hope the property still resonates with a broader audience.
