Skyrim: Special Edition Patch Brings Fixes and More

Bethesda Game Studios officially releases a new patch for its open world fantasy-RPG, Skyrim: Special Edition, which brings a variety of fixes and more.

It’s been a while since Skyrim: Special Edition received a patch, but it seems as if the developers at Bethesda are doing due diligence when it comes to keeping the enhanced version of the studio’s popular game up and running after its launch last year. As a matter of fact, the company has provided the open world fantasy-RPG with yet another update for PC and PlayStation 4, which provides general fixes for performance and stability, and addresses several more specific matters affecting Skyrim: Special Edition overall.

As initially detailed by VG 24/7, one of the more significant refinements coming in Skyrim: Special Edition‘s version 1.3 patch is the improved support for 144hz PC monitors. The patch is only available for PC and PlayStation 4 players at the moment, but Bethesda should be releasing the Xbox One iteration of the update sometime later on the Microsoft platform. However, those interested can find all of the improvements in Skyrim: Special Edition‘s latest patch below.

  • General stability and performance improvements
  • Fixed an issue where Slow Time effects weren’t behaving properly
  • Better support for 144hz displays (PC)
  • Fixed issue with being unable to log into Bethesda.net

Although there haven’t been reports of Skyrim: Special Edition‘s newest improvements wreaking any havoc on PC and PlayStation 4 platforms, one can only hope that downloading the update doesn’t go on to cause any additional problems to the game, much like previous patches have done. For instance, a patch released several months ago for Skyrim: Special Edition led to even more technical issues, including PC and console players experiencing crashes and gameplay freezes.

Despite Skyrim: Special Edition‘s aforementioned problems being addressed, the remastered version of Bethesda’s 2011 fantasy-RPG found a decent amount of success in its release last year, as it was one of the best-selling games of 2016 through Amazon, the online retail website. The enhanced version of Skyrim even managed to find its way in the top ten list of best-selling titles during its debut in October of last year.

While Skyrim: Special Edition has certainly been a financial boon for Bethesda, the studio’s Vice President of Marketing and PR, Pete Hines, has recently gone on record to reveal that the developer doesn’t have any plans for releasing an enhanced version of other Elder Scrolls games at the moment. With this being the case, fans will have to enjoy what they have with the updated version of Skyrim, and perhaps put to bed the notion of there ever being an Oblivion: Special Edition any time soon. Hopefully, though, Bethesda will eventually offer up Skyrim: Special Edition as a Nintendo Switch port when the console launches later this year.

Skyrim: Special Edition is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
