Weekly Video Game Round-Up: Hitman, Grand Theft Auto 5

In this week’s Video Game Round-Up, we discuss a new racing game from Dying Light developer Techland, the first official gameplay walkthrough for Hitman, some new Grand Theft Auto 5 activities, and more. In addition to the stories below, we invite readers to share and discuss their favorite stories from the previous week.

Next Game from Dying Light Developer

For the last year, developer Techland has been focused on promoting and supporting their first-person zombie survival game, Dying Light. But that’s not all the Techland crew has been up to. Turns out they’ve been developing their next game, FIM Speedway Grand Prix 15, a motorcycle racing game coming to PlayStation 4 later this year.

According to the developer, the game will feature “dynamic real-time commentary, online matches for up to four players, roaring engines, incredible speed, dangerous shoulder-to-shoulder racing, cheering crowds, and clouds of dirt and shale”.

FIM Speedway Grand Prix 15 is set to release on PlayStation 4 in 2015.

Hitman Showstopper Gameplay Revealed

With a packed fall release schedule, it’s easy to see how games can get lost in the mix of highly-anticipated titles. Therefore, many developers are looking to build as much hype as they can for their games in an effort to maximize sales upon release.

In preparation for the next Hitman game coming in December, developer Square Enix has released an official gameplay playthrough video of Hitman’s Showstopper mission. The above video is far better quality than the leaked footage released in July. There’s no doubt this isn’t the last bit of gameplay Square Enix will provide gamers leading up the game’s release.

Hitman is set to release on December 8, 2015 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Grand Theft Auto 5 Mod Adds Skyrim Dragons

It’s hard to think there’s anything that could make Grand Theft Auto 5 better than it already is. Fortunately, some gamers realized that adding dragons is exactly what would make the open-world RPG better.

The modders have created a Skyrim mod that gives players a chance to take down dragons as a Dragonborn. Sadly, the mod isn’t yet available for download, though the above video should help whet the appetite of those players interested in the mod.

Rockstar Editor Hits Grand Theft Auto 5 on Console This Month

PC gamers have enjoyed the Grand Theft Auto 5 Rockstar Editor over the last few months, creating interesting and entertaining montage videos and sharing them online.

Beginning in September, console gamers will get the opportunity to create unique Grand Theft Auto 5 videos and share them with friends and strangers online. In addition to bringing the service to console, Rockstar is also making a handful of updates to the service for both console and PC users. Those updates include an ambient audio and sound effect library, Snapmatic integration, Director Mode updates, and a few other minor additions.

Horizon: Zero Dawn Influenced by Assassin’s Creed and Skyrim

Guerrilla Games made serious headlines when they showed off their upcoming open-world adventure RPG, Horizon: Zero Dawn. In an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine, Guerrilla Games co-founder Hermen Hulst shared some of his team’s experience in creating the new IP.

In that interview, Hulst revealed that the team was influenced by Assassin’s Creed and Elder Scrolls, and that Horizon falls somewhere in between the two. However, he refrained from sharing too much until the developer has a chance to announce more details about the game.

“I guess you’re wondering where we are on that spectrum of, on the one side more action-orientated games like Assassin’s Creed, and on the other hand you have your Elder Scrolls and these kinds of series. I think we’re in-between. We have elements in both directions, and that probably puts us somewhere in between. It’s really difficult to talk about how deep the role-playing experience is without being able to show it yet, because people start speculating on it too much. Once we have something to show we’ll talk about it in more detail.”

Horizon: Zero Dawn is set to release on PlayStation 4 in 2016.
