Fire Emblem Heroes Adds New Heroes and Missions

Fire Emblem Heroes adds new heroes and missions in its latest update, with Nintendo also extending the game’s launch celebration, continuing to give out free orbs.

Nintendo’s latest mobile game, Fire Emblem Heroes, launched earlier this month and gave fans plenty to do. The strategy RPG lets players collect their favorite characters from the series, train them, take them into battle, and progress through the game’s story. But while the game already offered enough to keep many players occupied, Nintendo promised to update the game regularly, adding new content twice a month.

Staying true to its word, Fire Emblem Heroes has now gotten a significant post-launch update. In a patch, which weighs in at just over 10MB and triggers once players open up the app and accept, several new characters and missions have been added to the game. Ephraim and Eirika from Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones join the game alongside Julia and Seliph from Fire Emblem: Geneaology of the Holy War and they are Blue, Red, Green and Red type, respectively. All four characters are also rated five stars.

There are also new Paralogue missions too. Beginning with Paralogue: Family Bonds, these new Fire Emblem Heroes missions are available in Normal, Hard, and Lunatic difficulties, and will be available for a limited time. Completing the mission at each difficulty will also bag players three orbs (nine orbs in total), making earning enough orbs for summoning new characters a little easier. It also means that players won’t necessarily have to test out the Fire Emblem Heroes re-roll tactic in order to gain summon orbs without grinding.

And, speaking of easily earning summon orbs, Nintendo says that it is extending the Fire Emblem Heroes launch bonus (which gives players two orbs each day they log into the game) until March 14. The Worldwide Launch Celebration event (which lowers the stamina cost for training tower missions and eliminates the cost of using equipped skills) will continue indefinitely, training tower rewards will be added on February 20, and following an update in March, characters will be able to get XP for defeating lower level characters.

Fire Emblem Heroes has already made $5 million, but updates like these suggest that the mobile game will make even more money for Nintendo in the coming weeks and months. As Pokemon GO showed, when its revenue boomed following a holiday event, regular updates and content drops are vital to keep players engaged and to keep them playing the game. Nintendo seems well aware of this, and players should expect plenty more content to be released in the game soon.

Fire Emblem Heroes is now available on iOS and Android.
