Mass Effect Pack Available for Cards Against Humanity

Cards Against Humanity reveals an expansion themed around Mass Effect to mark the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda, with the card pack available for order now.

With the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda just around the corner, many gamers are already gearing up to step back into the beloved BioWare universe. However, it’s not just through the game itself that fans of the series will be able to enjoy some brand new Mass Effect-themed goodness. Instead, some content from the series is coming from a rather unlikely source: Cards Against Humanity.

As it turns out, BioWare and Cards Against Humanity have teamed up to create a Mass Effect Pack for the card game, close to the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda. The pack itself is made up of 14 new cards for the game, and is available right now over at MassEffectPack.com, as well as at a slightly less safe-for-work address. The expansion costs $1, and US orders will be available with free shipping.

Gamers planning to pick up the pack will no doubt have to brace themselves for the acerbic humor of Cards Against Humanity, and the 14 cards seem likely to focus on the more adult side of the Mass Effect series. Trin Garritano, director of events over at Cards Against Humanity, stated to Polygon that it was actually BioWare pushing things in this direction. “We had to push through a few non-sex cards just to widen the appeal of the deck,” said Garritano. “It was an incredible problem to have and I am still absolutely tickled by this.”

The pack is unlikely to reveal any new details about Mass Effect: Andromeda, though. “We thought if we wrote a pack with BioWare, they would let us play the new Mass Effect game early. That did not happen, but here we are anyway,” reads the expansion pack’s website. The pack is no doubt full of fun content for fans of the series though, even though Cards Against Humanity pokes fun at complaints over the Mass Effect 3 ending (just check out the FAQ page).

Although this is the first time that Cards Against Humanity has directly teamed up with a video game intellectual property, it’s not the first time that the card game has dabbled in external franchises. A House of Cards expansion has also been released, although the pack itself sold out within 24 hours last time. With that in mind, Mass Effect fans after this pack may have to move quickly to get hold of it.

It’s not just this pack that’s showing off Mass Effect recently, though. BioWare has been ramping up news about the latest title in the series, as shown by the recent Mass Effect: Andromeda weapon and skill video, while the game could even be bigger than Mass Effect 3. Hopefully, the game will prove to be even better than its predecessors.

Mass Effect: Andromeda will be released on March 21, 2017 on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. The Mass Effect pack for Cards Against Humanity is available to order now.
