Horizon: Zero Dawn Has Death Stranding Easter Egg

Horizon: Zero Dawn Has Death Stranding Easter Egg

Despite the fact that Horizon: Zero Dawn has yet to officially release to the general public, the Italian site Game Legends has stumbled across an interesting trinket in Guerrilla Games’ forthcoming action-RPG in the form of an Easter egg that makes a reference to Hideo Kojima’s current project known as Death Stranding. According to Game Legends’ discovery, the nod to Kojima’s game can be found within the description for an amulet that looks almost identical to the new Kojima Productions’ skull and helmet logo.

As seen in the screen capture from Game Legends below, the description of the amulet found within Horizon: Zero Dawn is written in Italian, but thanks to the help of Google Translate, fans who only speak English can get a decent idea as to what the text means. Interestingly enough, it seems as if the Death Stranding Easter egg is actually an item that can be used within Horizon: Zero Dawn, as a rough translation of its description reads, “Abandoned Amulet (Very Rare) – This object is valid only for the curious merchants. Six blocks of metal oxidized twisted from one cable. – Sources: Special – Useful for: Exchanges with merchants.”

For the uninitiated, the Horizon: Zero Dawn amulet’s mentioning of “six blocks of metal” is the key to making the connection between Guerrilla Games’ title and Death Stranding, as it directly refers to the silver necklace worn by actor Norman Reedus in the latter title’s reveal trailer at E3 2016. Of course, considering how reticent Kojima has been regarding the divulgence of details for Death Stranding‘s content, it should be noted that the Easter egg offers nothing in the way of fresh information about the game.

Be that as it may, it’s safe to say that both Horizon: Zero Dawn and Death Stranding fans alike will find the Easter egg to be a fun, if not useful addition to the action-RPG, as they will likely chart a course to discover it as quickly as possible once Guerrilla Games’ title finally launches next week. So, taking all of this into consideration, it’s definitely cool to learn that both games share more than just a game engine.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is set to release on February 28, 2017 for PlayStation 4, while Death Stranding is currently in development with no concrete release date for PlayStation 4.
