Nioh Celebrates A Million Sales With Golden Armor

The sum from both retail and digital sales of Nioh have broken the one million unit marker, Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja announced. The figure was reported by Gematsu (via gamer.ne.jp). It will be delivered via update 1.04, which will also include some in-game fixes, and should be released some time today.

In celebration of this achievement, Team Ninja will be giving out the Golden Nioh Armor to players as a thank you. The armor is a golden version of the Nioh Armor already available in the game, but with a little more panache.

It has only been two weeks since Nioh was only released, but it has garnered a significant fanbase. Early reviews for the title were positivity glowing, and the game managed to draw in the Dark Souls crowd clamoring for a new challenge; and on that, Nioh delivers.

While many struggle with early bosses – the second boss in particular is a bleeding nightmare – there are plenty of special items and abilities that can help make the game much easier.

Of course, some players see very little difficulty at all, easily navigating the demon hordes and effortlessly downing bosses with shocking efficiency. One player has even managed to beat Nioh in a mere 96 minutes.

Koei Tecmo has already announced several new additions coming to the game soon. Ten new higher difficulty missions will be added for free next month, and PvP and the game’s first DLC pack will arrive some time in April. Two other premium expansions have been announced, but they haven’t been detailed, nor is there a release window at this time.

Judging by the amount of content scheduled for release, and the flashy new armor bestowed upon the community, it’s clear Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja are taking good care of the Nioh player base.

Nioh released on February 7, 2017 for the PlayStation 4.
