Dying Light: The Following Bounties Trailer

Dying Light: The Following Bounties Trailer

Techland releases a new trailer for Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition, this time detailing the new three-tiered bounty system being added to the game.

Even though Dying Light released in January of 2015, the game is still going strong, and thanks to the upcoming expansion, The Following, it is showing no signs of slowing down in 2016. Techland has been detailing what fans can expect from The Following in the weeks leading up to its February 9th release, and the latest trailer for the DLC shows off the game’s new bounty system.

In Dying Light: The Following, bounties unlock after completing the main story, and will be split into three distinct categories. Firstly, there are Basic Bounties, which refresh every time players turn on the game. Basic Bounties are designed so players can complete them at their leisure, and involve simple tasks such as cutting off a certain number of zombie heads or surviving night chases.

Daily Bounties are the second bounty type set to be added to Dying Light in The Following expansion. One example of a daily bounty is given in the latest trailer for the DLC, and it requires players to figure out where the tallest building is on the map, scale it using Dying Light‘s parkour abilities, and then jump off of it without dying.

Community Challenges are the third and final bounty type that players can look forward to once Dying Light: The Following launches in February. These challenges will last for an undetermined number of days, and require players to work together to complete a certain task, such as cumulatively killing a set number of zombies, for example. If the combined Dying Light community is able to reach the goal within the time frame set by Techland, then everyone who participated will receive a reward.

Between the bounty system and the new extensive vehicle customization, it is clear that The Following is much more than just a simple expansion for Dying Light. It genuinely seems like a true rejuvenation of the game, and looks to provide players with a new story, a new area to explore, and new gameplay features to sink their teeth into as well.

Dying Light season pass owners should be plenty satisfied with this bevy of content that is coming to the game, but luckily, those that just own the base game will be able to enjoy some of the new content, too. It’s unclear if they will be able to use the new bounty system or enjoy vehicle customization, but all Dying Light players will at least have access to the Deathmatch Mode, which is a nice way for Techland to reward those that have been with the game since the beginning.

Overall, Techland’s ability to keep Dying Light feeling relevant has been impressive. Most games appear to drop completely off the radar this late into their lifespan, but Dying Light is gearing up to receive its most significant addition yet with The Following DLC next month. It will be interesting to see if these new features help sell Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition to first time players as well as convince lapsed players to return to the game.

Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition will be available on February 9th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The base game is available now for the aforementioned platforms.
