This time next year, Xbox One players will be sinking their teeth into a giant buffet of fantastic games, with one Xbox executive even saying that 2016’s Xbox line-up is bigger than 2015’s. But, as fans wait (im)patiently for the likes of Gears of War 4 and Crackdown 3, Microsoft is keen to get people playing the Xbox One games that are available now, which is perhaps why the company has put together the end of year ‘Countdown’ sale which it is calling its ‘biggest sale ever’.
The second week of the Countdown discounts are now live; it runs until January 7, 2016 and Microsoft notes that Xbox Live Gold members “save up to an additional 10 percent on top of the game discounts”. What is sure to be one of the most popular deals of the week is Fallout 4 which is now available at $50. While that isn’t the deepest discount, given that the game scored big in reviews from critics, many will still jump at the chance to pick up the game for money off of the RRP.
Also sure to be popular are the likes of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (Xbox One). Available for $48, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate mostly avoids the technological pratfalls of its predecessor, Assassin’s Creed Unity (namely those server connection issues and the framerate troubles), and offers an adventurous romp around Victorian London.
The Phantom Pain, on the other hand, is being sold for $40 in the Countdown sale, which some would consider a steal as following his highly publicized departure from Konami, it’s likely to be (series creator) Hideo Kojima’s last ever Metal Gear game. Other worthy considerations for Xbox One players include Gears of War: Ultimate Edition – Day One Version and survival horror title Alien: Isolation which would be a good way to get into the series ahead of the (rumored) Alien: Isolation 2.
Xbox One users aren’t the only ones being blessed by knocked down prices, though, as Microsoft is also offering discounts on Xbox 360 games as well. The Xbox 360 version of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is now $33.50, while Left 4 Dead 2 and Max Payne 3 are both being offered at $5 each. Additionally, there are limited time Daily Deals (that run through until December 31), Deals With Gold and Spotlight Sale discounts as well, which include Xbox One games, Xbox 360 games and game add-ons too.
