Prayer To Put On The Full Armor of God
I put on the full armor of God, put on the shield of faith, breastplate of righteousness, sword of the spirit, and use it to destroy my enemies in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. I will step on any and all powers of the enemy, powers of darkness, any sickness, disease, infirmity, cancer, death, and no harm shall come upon me. No weapon formed against me shall prosper and all tongues that come against me will be ashamed. I pray in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, amen.
The Full Armor of God The imagery of “putting on the armor” comes from Ephesians 6:10-18, where the Apostle Paul describes the spiritual equipment every believer is given to stand firm.
- The Breastplate of Righteousness: Protects the heart. It signifies that your standing before God is based on Christ’s righteousness, not your own works, shielding you from condemnation.
- The Sword of the Spirit: This is the only offensive weapon mentioned which is the Word of God. By speaking scripture, you are “swinging the sword” to cut through lies and spiritual attacks.
Authority Over the Enemy Our declaration to “step on any and all powers of the enemy” is a direct reference to the authority Jesus Christ gave his followers.
- Luke 10:19: “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”
- Victory Over Infirmity: By naming “sickness, disease, cancer, and death,” you are applying this spiritual authority to the physical realm, believing that the life of Christ within you is greater than any “power of darkness” or biological threat.
The Promise of Protection The phrase “No weapon formed against me shall prosper” is one of the most quoted promises of divine defense.
- Isaiah 54:17: This scripture assures the “servants of the Lord” that while weapons may be formed, they will not succeed in their purpose.
- Silencing Accusations: The “tongues that come against you” refers to spiritual and verbal accusations. This part of the prayer claims that God Himself will vindicate you and put your accusers to shame.
The Power of the Name Concluding “in the mighty name of Jesus Christ” is the key that activates the entire prayer.
- Philippians 2:9-11: Declares that God has given Jesus the name that is “above every name,” at which every knee must bow—including sickness, fear, and spiritual enemies.
- Legal Authority: In the spiritual realm, using the Name of Jesus is like using a legal “power of attorney,” acting with the full backing of the Kingdom of Heaven.
