How to Build a Clean and Blessed Relationship Before Marriage

blessed relationship

As a Christian, I believe God wants our relationships to be pure and holy, especially before marriage. Jesus Christ taught us to love each other with clean hearts and to keep our bodies and minds as a temple for the Holy Spirit.

So, I try to follow simple, practical steps every day to build a relationship that pleases God, stays away from sin, and is full of peace.

Here are the steps I try to live out daily:

Start the day with prayer together

Every morning, I pray and ask God to protect our relationship. I ask Him to fill our hearts with His love and give us strength against temptation. Sometimes we send each other a short prayer message: “Today I’m praying for you. May God bless and keep you.” This helps us feel that God is first in our relationship.

Read the Bible every day and share it

I read a short passage each day and think about it. Then I send my loved one a verse that spoke to me, or we ask each other, “What stood out to you in this verse today?” This brings us closer spiritually and builds a strong foundation on God’s Word.

Keep clear boundaries in communication and meetings

We agree from the beginning to avoid physical touch that stirs up desire, like passionate kissing or being alone in a closed place. We meet in public places, with friends or family around, and we end meetings at a good time. If we feel tempted, we stop right away and pray.

Talk honestly and openly every day or two

We check in with each other: “How was your heart with God today? Is anything bothering you?” This builds trust and helps us be responsible for each other. If one of us makes a small mistake, we confess it quickly, ask forgiveness from each other, and ask forgiveness from God.

Encourage each other’s personal relationship with God

I get so happy when I see him pray, go to church, or serve others. I support him in that and pray for him to grow in faith. A clean relationship starts when each person loves God more than they love the other.

We don’t watch movies or content with sexual scenes together. We don’t send messages or pictures that stir up desire. I try to keep my eyes and heart clean, because Jesus Christ said, “Anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Matthew 5:28).

End the day with thanks to God

Before sleep, I thank God for the day, for this person, and ask Him to keep blessing and protecting our relationship until marriage. Sometimes we pray a short prayer together over the phone.

A clean relationship isn’t always easy, but it is possible with the power of the Holy Spirit. Every small choice we make to obey God brings us closer in a blessed way and prepares us for a future home full of real peace and true love.

Every day I pray:

“Lord, help us build a relationship that pleases You, clean and holy, so when we marry, we are ready for a beautiful Christian marriage.”

That’s how I try to live, step by step, day by day, by God’s grace.
