Why I Put a Bible Verse on My Fridge

fridge bible verse

People sometimes ask me, “Why do you stick a Bible verse on the fridge door, right next to your shopping list?

The answer is actually very simple, and very meaningful to me.

Every day, I open the fridge many times. I check for milk, look for vegetables, see what’s left, or add items to the list like eggs, bread, and apples. The fridge is one of the places I visit most often, especially when I’m hungry, when I’m cooking for my family, or just looking around for a yummy snack.

So I thought, why not place God’s Word somewhere I already look at several times a day? That little verse becomes a gentle but powerful reminder every time I reach for the handle.

For example, I sometimes put up verses like this one:

“Do not worry about what you will eat or what you will drink… Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.” (from Matthew 6)

When I read it while staring at a half empty fridge, or when I start worrying whether the budget will last until the end of the month, the words calm my heart. They remind me that God sees me. He is the one who provides, and I don’t have to control everything.

Other times I choose a verse like:

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” (from 1 Corinthians 10)

That one makes me think even about daily food choices as an act of worship. It’s not only about filling my stomach. It’s about thanking God for the food, choosing what is good for my body, and sharing with others when I can.

Having the shopping list right beside the verse connects everything. It brings together the ordinary, everyday tasks like getting carrots and eggs, and my faith in God. There is no real separation between “spiritual life” and “normal life.” It’s all part of walking with Jesus.

In the end, that small piece of paper on the fridge is not just decoration. It’s my quiet way of letting God’s Word enter the most ordinary moments of my day. So even when I’m deciding between cheese and chocolate, I remember that God is with me and He cares about every detail of my life, big and small.

Because of that simple verse, the fridge becomes more than a place for food. It becomes a place that quietly reminds me of God’s love and His faithful care. 😊
